Ever wondered about Okra?

Okra is a favorite flowering plant around the world, and it is also known as ladies fingers or bhindi and is most highly prized because of its seed pods. The scientific name of this plant is Abelmoschus esculentus.

Okra has a wide range of health benefits, but most of the health benefits are due to the minerals, vitamins, and organic compounds found in this vegetables. Okra has high nutritional value because it is rich in vitamin A, B, C, E, and K, as well as calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, and zinc. Furthermore, okra contains a high level of mucilaginous fiber.

One of the best ways to consume all the nutrients of okra is to soak it with clean water overnight and in the morning eat the okra and drink the water at the same time, with this simple remedy you will naturally boost your overall health and you will earn these amazing health benefits.

We often boil it in with beans, onion and pork over rice for a nutritious meal and I have tried growing it, but found the Okra plant usually only produced one pod  per season, so to grow it at home you may need a lot of them :-)

Beer Is Officially Good for You

It's one of the world's favorite alcoholic beverages.

And, fortunately for millions of pub-goers, it seems that beer may have a number of unexpected health benefits, too.  It Reduces Heart Risk And Improves Brain Health.

That's according to scientists who've published research in The American Journal of the Medical Sciences. They claim beer boasts more protein and B vitamins than wine, is high in antioxidants and can reduce the occurrence of cardiovascular disease.

The antioxidant content of beer is equivalent to that of wine, but the specific antioxidants are different because the barley and hops used in the production of beer contain flavonoids different from those in the grapes used in the production of wine, according to scientists.

So don't feel guilty having a beer over the festive season, moderation with everything is the key :-)

Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year

A healthy diet can provide an effective complementary approach to alleviating some symptoms of ADHD and may other ailments.

It helps to eat more fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of water. Stay away from processed foods. Make sure you eat breakfast and include a good source of protein. Stay away from things like "pop tarts" and other sugary foods.

Preparing your own meals is also important. When you cook at home, you know exactly what you're putting into your dish, plus it saves so much money compared to eating out.

You can use fresh and healthy ingredients that are low in fat, sugar, and salt without artificial ingredients and additives'.

But meal preparation can be a particular challenge. Planning, time management, decision-making, and following multiple steps are all skills involved in creating any meal and all of these come with some difficulty. But it's worth the effort.

One by-product of creating a system for meal planning and preparation is the learning that can be applied to other areas of our lives.
